The Influence of Bicycle Ergometer Training on Basal Metabolic Rate and Aerobic Work Capacity

Abstract
In this study, normal weight women in ages of 20-29years were trained using bicycle ergometer at the exercise intensity of 75% maximal heart rate for 60 min/day¡¿4times/week for 8weeks. The results of changed basal metabolic rate ad aerobic work
capacity, between before and after training, are as follows.
1. The weight and BSA of the exercise group were decreased after 8 week training session, respectively.
2. The basal metabolic rate of the exercise group was increased significantly after 8 week training period.
3. The heart rate of exercise group was decreased significantly after 8week training during rest session, and was increased significantly after 8week training during max exercise session, respectively.
4. The VEmax of the exercise group was increased after 8week training during max exercise period.
5. The VO2max per weight of the exercise group was increased significantly after 8week training during max exercise session.
6. The VCO2max per weight of the exercise group was increased significantly after 4week and 8week training during max exercise session.
7. The RER of the exercise decreased after 8 week training during rest session, and was decreased after 8 week training during max exercise session, respectively.
8. The maximal work load of the exercise group was increased significantly after 4week and 8week training during max exercise seesion.
9. The 1 mile walk time of the exercise group was increased significantly after 8week training period.
As seen in the privious results, the bicycle ergometer at the exercise intensity of 75% maximal heart rate for 60 min each session and 4 days a week for 8 weeks training in normal weight women influence on the changed of basal metabolic rate,
aerobic
work capacity and physical performance.
Improving basal metabolic rate and aerobic work capacity will be adaptational to energy balance, physical fitness and weight regulation.
